I believe that basically, the world is good and that most people are well intentioned. I know, it is a naive belief, but experience has taught me that, despite the evil in the world and the bad things that human kind does, it is still a lovely world. I believe that it is up to us to make what we can of this life, whatever may lie beyond it I believe that religion causes wars, while faith can move mountains.
So, what is my faith? I am a Pagan and I worship and attempt to follow the Goddess in Her incarnation as Epona. I am very sincere in this, it is not something I have "adopted" for effect, putting on a faith as one would put on a pretty brooch because it has suddenly become fashionable. I most earnestly believe in Her and am aware of Her presence in everything I do. I love Her as my Holy Mother, the one who begins life and guides us as we exit life.
However, I do not do rituals or spells. I do not have an altar in my home as I belive that my entire home is my altar. I do not own a book of shadows or grimoire and I have nothing to do with any group. That is not to say that I think that these things are necessarily wrong, they are just wrong for me. In the past, while searching for my spirit, I attended various churches in the Christian faith. I found that there was too much emphasis on "things": on buying books, verse cards etc. They were just the trappings of faith in the figurative and literal sense. Thinking about about the clothes one wears to attend worship, for example, how to worship, rituals and items to use in rituals, even buildings: are all nice in their own way. But they can trap one's faith and make it less about the Divine and more about conventions. So I decided long ago, to do away with all these things and concentrate on just listening.
That is the kind of relationship I have with the Divine, which I choose to interact with Her Epona persona. I listen and She speaks, and sometimes I talk as well! Well no one said that it had to be a one-sided relationship! I suppose that this could be called prayer, though I see it as just me, chatting with the Mother about this and that.
I completely accept that other people do not believe as I do. Paganism is only one way to faith and if it is your way, then good for you. If not, then good for you too. I absolutely believe in tolerance and I expect no less from other people.
I believe that the world really is a lovely place to live. We are making a shocking mess out of caretaking it, but there is hope for us yet. And I believe that, rumours notwishstanding, I have met nothing but kindess and friendliness from people I have met on the 'net.
I see trees of green
Red roses too
I see them bloom for me and you
And I think to myself
What a wonderful world
I see skies of blue, and clouds of white
The bright blessed day
The dark sacred night
And I think to myself
What a wonderful world
The colours of the rainbow
So pretty in the sky
Are also on the faces of people passing by
I see friends shaking hands, asking "How do you do?"
They're really saying "I love you"
I hear babies cry
I watch them grow
They'll learn much more
Than I'll ever know
And I think to myself
What a wonderful world
Yes, I think to myself
What a wonderful world

I believe for every drop of rain that falls
A flower grows
I believe that somewhere in the darkest night
A candle glows
I believe for everyone who goes astray, someone will come
To show the way
I believe, I believe
I believe above a storm the smallest prayer
Can still be heard
I believe that someone in the great somewhere
Hears every word
Everytime I hear a new born baby cry,
Or touch a leaf or see the sky
Then I know why, I believe
Everytime I hear a new born baby cry,
Or touch a leaf or see the sky
Then I know why, I believe
